Custody Checklists
Structured custody checklists used during Page Aspen Core review sessions — covering seed phrase storage, hardware wallet hygiene, and successor readiness.
These checklists form the backbone of our review sessions. They are not a substitute for a confidential review, but they illustrate the areas we examine when you book a session with us.
Seed phrase documentation
Where are your recovery words recorded? How many copies exist? Are they on paper, metal, or both? Does anyone besides you know a copy exists — and do they know where to find it without guessing?
Geographic distribution
Are your backups stored in more than one location? Would a fire, flood, or burglary at your primary residence destroy every copy? Have you accounted for safe deposit boxes, relatives' homes, or office storage?
Hardware wallet inventory
How many devices do you hold? What models and firmware versions? Is a spare device configured and tested? Are any devices stored alongside their seed phrase backups?
Passphrase practices
Do you use a passphrase (25th word) on any device? Is it documented separately from the seed phrase? Has it been tested with a small recovery exercise?
Successor instructions
Is there a written document explaining what you hold, where backups are, and what steps a trusted person should take? Has that person read it — or only been told it exists?
Life event triggers
When did you last review your custody arrangement? Have you moved homes, changed marital status, had children, or travelled internationally with a hardware device since then?
Testing and verification
Have you ever performed a test recovery using your seed phrase on a spare device? Do you know that your metal backup is legible and matches your paper copy?

Walk through each item on your own first. Note any answer that makes you pause — those pauses are usually where a review session adds the most value.
